The bridalwear world has always had a reputation for being a few seasons behind high street fashion.

The last few years have seen a marked change in this regard. There has been a clear trend in the industry towards fast fashion turnover war that the big high retail continue fighting.

It is no longer good enough for a modern break to look at outdated styles and the typical "Grandma would like that one" dresses that many stores that used to wear.

This year we expect to see a strong return to the colorful design (although not as merangues 1980) multi-layered textures inspired by the student-led mode of stratification that we have all seen over the last year.

Chic, simple designs will still be high on the agenda, but there will be much more interest more Designer Wedding Dresses, which really makes a statement.

We have noticed an increased interest in dramatic ball gowns, designed to 'wow factor'.

Strapless dresses will still feature, but there will be much more interest in halter and assymetrical strappy styles.

The only exception to the rule are designed dresses to be worn in sunny locations for beach weddings. Simple lightweight dresses will be the day policy for the coming years, as far as we can see.

All in all it's good to see change. Fashions are by their nature have to move on.
