The swimsuits I have seen with pockets for prostheses is both fashionable and functional in those days. According to WebMD's Breast Cancer Guide, the most popular swimsuit styles for women who have undergone a mastectomy is the tankini, a two-piece suit that completely covers the torso. These come in many designs, including a tunic top. I can confirm that the practical and versatility this type of beachwear.

For arm lymphedema, compression braces have come a long way. Medically fashionable yet functional clothing offered by these innovators who Lymph divas LLC and slice Fashion LLC. There's nothing like a black Lacy gauntlet or zebra-zag armsleeve turning your head and stop the conversation at a cocktail party.

Least one company has developed apparel designed specifically for breast cancer survivors with lymphedema. Sansu Functional Designs for Living, established through cooperation between Princess Margaret Hospital and Ryerson University School of Fashion in Toronto, Canada, offers a range of innovative products.

One of the most noted points Sansu is a modular bag with a belt to make it possible for users to keep her arm in a comfortable sling design or use the bag as a stylish waist pack. After I had lymphedema, I went back to use my "Fanny packs." Although out of style, they were very handy for my active lifestyle. This trendy Sansu bag would never be a fashion faux pas.

Sansu also developed a carry-all coat with dropped shoulders and a removable lining, a fleece scarf jacket, a knitted Dolmans-style top with kangaroo pocket to rest the arms or transporting goods, and an Oxford shirt with dropped shoulders, loose cuffs and magnetic button closure. This company is currently designing patterns to allow seamstresses to make their own clothes for patients with torso and arm lymphedema.

I am pleased with how far businesses have come to make breast cancer survivors with lymphedema feel less conspicuous in their clothes and more confident in their appearance. Although the attraction can not be any survivors focus, the availability of smart dress goes far to help many survivors, especially younger women, recover emotionally and psychosocially from their cancer treatment. I challenge more in the garment industry to be avant-garde in their approach to this subpopulation of women who love donning trendy clothes. Can athletic clothes geared for cancer survivors lymphedema be far behind?
