target = "_self" title = "HDIL India Couture Week"> HDIL India Couture Week, an initiative of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) is expected to be the most glamorous and most unique of all fashion weeks. India's first ever couture week, will showcase 11 of India's finest couturier and aims to provide a platform for the Indian Couture.

Scheduled from September 16 to 21, two theatrically produced shows will be held every day at 7:30 and 9:00. The event will certainly be a celebration of Indian fashion

Day five of the HDIL India Couture Week started with an impressive collection by designer Varun Bahl who made history by marrying the Mughal and Rajput dynasties with the Elizabethan age, creating an extravagant yet sober collection of silhouettes.

The line saw a perfect blend of two cultures – Indian and Western. The designer had elegantly managed to merge the two in such a way that his clothes were at once trendy and sophisticated. The collection as a merger of Saris with Elizabethan gowns, lehengas with coat-shaped blouses, and evening dress with a bow on his back.

Lots of velvet in different sizes, shapes and characters were very prominent. It was used to Sareen, jackets, dresses, blouses, suits, churidars and lehengas. Velvet motifs were engraved on lehengas Sareen and giving them a trendy look.

The color palette ranged from black to ivory, gold, pink and red. A interesting aspect of Bahl's show was something outrageous headgear worn by the models ranging from reindeer horns to heavy loaded jewelry with feathers.

To surprise the audience Bahl had kept a small velvet bag on each chair in the show area, which contained a small binocular through which the audience could examine the intricate zardosi work on clothing.

Tarun's show proved to be the biggest attraction thus far from the event.

The designer had left no stone unturned to make a mark on the audience through his impeccable style quotient. The main show area (MSA) was layered with images of Khajuraho temples while a series of projectors beamed an eclectic variety of images recreate the glory of Indian culture

Tahiliani's session titled "Everything we are and more" was a breach dream – grand, majestic and traditional – but still modern. The collection featured heavy crystallized Swarovski-draped dresses, and Kurta, Sareen, churidars, chairs, jackets, pulls, evening dresses, caftan, sherwanis and heavy embroidered skirts.

Using a series of brocade, tulle, silk and velvet, featured color palette, maroon, gold, rusty orange, pink and red. In terms of embroidery, zardozi dominated the space.

The show stops of the evening undoubtedly was Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who has been regularly walking the ramp for Tahiliani for a number of years. The actress was dressed in a red lehenga studded with crystals and loaded with zardozi work.

Tarun is probably India's most recognized designer in India in terms of infrastructure and distribution. His talent has enabled him to transform the traditional Indian drapes, fabrics and techniques in modern, innovative structured forms that translate into an international modern look. Style craftsmanship, quality and sophistication are the defining symbols of Tarun's garments. Today, Tarun, the master of drape, is one of the most coveted and target = "_blank" title = "designer"> Top fashion designers in the country, whose clients include domestic and international arena.
