Most men use solid white dress shirts in their wardrobe staple. They are reluctant to step out of their comfort zones and try different colors and patterns, because they just do not know which colors look good on them. They also think it will be harder to match a tie. White, on the other hand, is an easy solution. But be careful! White does not flatter any complexion.

People have a different complexion and skin tones. Understand your personal coloring is important to look your best.

Cool Undertones, Soft and Muted

You have a fair complexion with cool undertones. Your hair color can be platinum, ash blonde, silver or ash brown, blue, gray or soft brown eyes. Shirts that look best on you soft, muted colors. Bet on ivory rather than white, and wearing pastel colors like pink, blue, lavender, gray and soft yellow.

Cool Undertones, bold and Stitch

You have a deeper color and a great contrast between your hair color, eye color and skin color. Clear and bright colors are best for you. Select dress shirts in bright shades of blue, yellow, pink, purple, gray and black.

Golden Undertones, Clear and Bright

You have a golden complexion. You may have tan or red hair and blue or green eyes. To look your best, wear a cream dress shirt and bright colors such as blue, peach, gold, violet and sea foam green.

Warm Undertones, spicy, rich and Muted

You have an earth tone quality to your color and looks best in warm, subdued colors. Wear ecru instead of white and French blue, salmon, marigold, brown and teal.

A white dress shirt can look great on a man with darker skin or one that has more contrast between his hair color, eye color and skin color. But a man with blond hair and fair skin can look washed out in white. A man with this color scheme should try more color, like lime blues, pinks and lavenders.

For men with warm, deep undertones, a beige dress shirt is more flattering than white. When a man go with colors that are in harmony with his complexion, he immediately looks younger, thinner and more vibrant. Conversely, wearing the wrong colors make him look tired, older and sick. Come alive by wearing dress shirts in rich spice colors or earth tones, such as the Mediterranean blue, turquoise, russet, olive, brown or purple. These colors intensify the richness of your natural features so you look and feel energetic.

Do not limit yourself to color dress shirt. Dare to be different and wear patterns and stripes to reflect your personal style and flair. (This is one that jumps out at you, when you step away from his shirt.) Ensure that this color complements your color.

How to Match Tie your shirt

A tip for matching tie is to choose a color tie that matches or contrasts well with one or more of the colors in stripes or checks in the shirt. Be careful when matching a striped ties with striped dress shirt. If so, it might look impressive clever, and if not, it could be ugly. The trick is to choose a tight stripe that reads more like a solid, or to secure the two stripes are of different sizes so they do not fight or look dizzy together.
