Have the Necessary Tools

It is important to make sure that you have the tools you need to ensure your event goes smoothly. Have a wine opener on hand that is quick and easy to use. Make sure you have stemmed wineglasses if you are serving wine. Have ice on hand to chill white wine, beer or other drinks that need to be served cold. If you want a casual outdoor event, get a supply of disposable dishes and put out garbage cans on the edge of the action. Make a list ahead of time envisioning the party and you will have it all under control.

Entertaining like Martha is a simple matter of preparation and attention to detail. When you know what kind of party, what you are serving for food and drink and the tone you are going for, the hard part is done. The rest is simply making sure it gets done.
